Hampi – Part 2
Hampi Bazaar
The bazaar stretches almost a kilometer from the entrance of Virupaksha temple to the foothill of Matanga Hill at the east end. A huge monolithic Nandi (bull) statue is located at the east end of the bazaar.
Achyuta Raya Temple
A sprawling temple complex believed to be built in the 16th century. It’s one the places in Hampi which cannot be reached by a vehicle. There are two ways to reach Achyuta Raya Temple. Either by taking a deviation on the way to Kodanda Rama Temple – King’s Balance or by climbing the steps near the Monolithic Nandi(bull) at the east end of the Hampi Bazaar.
The temple has two compounds one within the other. Achyuta Raya Temple also has a bazaar starting right at the entrance of the temple all the way to the northern end. This street is known as the Courtesan Street.
